After completing a National Diploma in Performing Arts, Louise’s first job was as a Redcoat Entertainer for Butlins, before starting her career as a jazz and big band vocalist, specialising in the music of the 20s, 30s and 40s. Among many other credits, she was the first female vocalist with the world famous Pasadena Roof Orchestra, touring with them for over five years; she was a regular special guest singer for Big Band Special on BBC Radio 2, and has worked constantly over the last twenty-five years with the UK’s finest musicians at theatres, concert halls, jazz clubs and festivals all over the world.
Louise has sung on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4 (including Friday Night is Music Night and Loose Ends), appeared in period TV drama, performed at the BAFTAs, held residencies at Claridges and the Savoy Hotel, performed onboard the QE2 and Saga Cruise lines, toured with American clarinet legend Ken Peplowski and the BBC Big Band, as well as singing with Curtis Stigers, the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, the Len Phillips Swing Orchestra and Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra.
She also works as a voiceover artist, with clients including Chanel, Acuvue, Roland Pianos, Burberry, and Lee Kum Kee Sauces.
Teaching and Training
My teaching is informed by over 25 years of experience as a professional singer, alongside ongoing training and professional development in vocal pedagogy and voice science. I regularly attend specialist lectures, seminars and training sessions covering vocal technique, healthy voice use, vocal health and the latest thinking in teaching singing to children and young people. I’m continually developing my approach so that I can offer the most appropriate and relevant vocal training to help singers build healthy, confident and expressive voices, whatever their age.
