Victoria Wood is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. She is the first point of contact for anything to do with a child’s safety or wellbeing at KSPA — from a worry about your own child to a concern about how an adult here has behaved.

Our team
Everyone who teaches at KSPA holds an enhanced DBS check, and every new member of staff completes safeguarding training before they have any contact with our children.
How to raise a concern
- Tell any member of staff. Every teacher here is trained to listen and to pass a concern to the Safeguarding Lead. You do not need to work out whether it is serious enough first — that is our job, not yours.

- You can also go outside KSPA at any point, and you do not need our permission to do so. Kent County Council takes reports about a child through the Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership. Out of hours, the Kent duty team is on 03000 41 91 91. In an emergency, call 999.
We take every concern seriously, whoever it is about — including our own staff. Nobody is presumed guilty and nobody is dismissed as making a fuss.
What our policy commits us to
- The policy applies to everyone working for or representing KSPA — employees, contractors, teachers and volunteers alike, whatever their hours.
- Safeguarding training comes before contact: no one works with our children until they have completed it, and pre-employment checks are part of recruitment.
- Training covers recognising physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect and exploitation; how to handle a child’s disclosure; and exactly how and when to report.
- Safeguarding information is handled confidentially and shared internally strictly on a need-to-know basis, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Referrals to the police, the local authority or a regulatory body are made whenever they are needed to keep a child safe.
- The policy is reviewed regularly to keep it in line with safeguarding law.
